Internet addiction
Ben Alexander had internet addiction. He faced many social problems. He found it difficult to fit into his school. He found an online game called "world of war craft". He joined 12 million other people in the game. So he started skipping his class so he could play in the game, spending up to 17 hours a day online. So he became depressed and tried medication. He admits that he needed help.
Habit or Addiction. The medical world divided people into two groups. The first is the actual internet addict and the second those who have the habit. There are side effects like missing school work and developing addiction to drugs and problems in eating habits .
The British Medical Journal says that of more than 45 million web users in Britain 5 to 10 per cent may be addicts. Smallwood says that 10 years ago he'd never met anyone with internet addiction. But in the past 5 years he has met several.
